An avid reader, amateur artist, fan of the Pinot wine varietal and enthusiastic braai-tong wielder, who is happier around a braai than on a boat, Craig is the father of two teenagers and husband to long-suffering Shannon.
Craig grew up in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, while being schooled at SACS before starting his career in the financial services industry. This began at Southern Life Asset Management, before moving to HSBC Asset Management. During this time while Craig was honing his institutional asset management skills under many talented professionals and respected mentors, he obtained his honours degree in commerce specialising in economics and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification. He then moved to Investec Wealth & Investments, where the link between financial markets and the many factors and emotions influencing the relationship between investors and their financial needs and assets was realised.
Motivated by this new understanding of investor behaviour particularly in times of market disruptions, Craig started Cordatus Capital in 2005. Incorporating the unique needs of individual investors, within a structured framework from Craig’s years of institutional experience forms the basis of the wealth & investment offering, which is directed by Craig and his fellow director Rolfe, today.
The growing influence of tax, the need to present a common view and the unique requirements of investors within the wealth & investment management process at Cordatus, resulted in the launching of 3 Cordatus collective investment schemes (unit trusts), where Craig is the lead fund manager.
